I decided to use the 2007 challenge and the 2008 3 person relay to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.  This is a charity close to my heart for two reasons:

• Firstly my son has Becker Muscular Dystrophy, he is a keen swimmer, so this seems like an appropriate charity;
• Secondly my Mum had a condition known as myositis - a condition which the Muscular Dystrophy campaign fund research into

Muscular dystrophies are a collection of genetic muscle wasting conditions, some of which can be fatal in children. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the leading registered UK charity working to combat these conditions by pioneering the search for treatments and cures. The charity also provides support and information regarding expert medical care.

This event is being swum to raise money for Action Duchenne.  This is another Muscular Dystrophy charity aimed at finding a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
