Channel Temperatures

So how cold is it in the channel? I've been plotting the temperature of the channel on an (almost) daily basis for a couple of years now. Whilst temperatures do vary from year to year, during the swimming period, there's very little difference - so the graph below gives a good idea of what to expect.

What does make a significant difference, though, is the ambient conditions. On a calm warm day, the water can feel gorgeous even when it is, in reality, a bit on the chilly side.

I wonder what weather 2009 will bring..... the year started colder than 2008 but has now caught up. Fingers crossed for a good year.
